ICSI is an independent non-profit basic research institute located in Berkeley, California, and is affiliated with the University of California at Berkeley. ICSI strives to maintain ongoing basic research projects of the highest standard in selected areas of computer science and engineering. These projects benefit significantly from international collaborations. The particular areas of concentration are chosen for their fundamental importance and their compatibility with the strengths of the Institute and U.C. Berkeley staff. Aside from the work in networks and theory mentioned above, research areas include realization and applications of massive parallelism (with a particular focus on speech and language processing), and the design of multimedia appli-cations for high-speed global area networks. More information about ICSI can be found in its WWW home page, located at http://www.icsi.berkeley.edu.
Qualified applicants are assumed to have a doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or a related field, and the position also requires demonstrated research excellence. Outstanding candidates at any experience level are encouraged to apply. The new Research Scientists will be expected to maintain ICSI's close connections with faculty and students at UC Berkeley.
