Computer Science Faculty Position

One tenure-track position in computer science at the Assistant Professor level will begin Fall, 1997. A Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is required. Applicants should have abilities and interests in teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, advising students, and establishing a strong research program in their area of specialty. Applicants with specialties in Architecture, Operating Systems, or Software Engineering will be given preference. Teaching and industrial experience are desirable. The University of Akron is the third largest state university in Ohio. The department offers a B.S. and an M.S. in Computer Science. Faculty can also participate in the Coordinated Engineering Applied Mathematics PhD program. The University is a metropolitan institution with an active evening program. University computing equipment includes an IBM 4381, IBM 9672-R41, DEC Alpha Server 1000, DECstation 5000/240, and personal computers. Departmental computing equipment includes SUN SparcStations, SGI workstations, four IBM RISC 6000's, two parallel processing computers, and a variety of personal computers networked to the campus backbone.
