The University of Akron is the third largest state university in Ohio. The department offers a B.S. and an M.S. in Computer Science. Faculty can also participate in the Coordinated Engineering Applied Mathematics PhD program. The University is a metropolitan institution with an active evening program. University computing equipment includes an IBM 4381, IBM 9672-R41, DEC Alpha Server 1000, DECstation 5000/240, and personal computers. Departmental computing equipment includes SUN SparcStations, SGI workstations, four IBM RISC 6000's, two parallel processing computers, and a variety of personal computers networked to the campus backbone.
