Hi,

Who am I?  Well, I'm Scott.  I am a senior research programmer in
Robotics.  I use to work for Susan Finger, who is really cool.  I now
work for Mel Siegel, who is also very cool.  My job involves exploring
applications involving stereoscopic (3-D) displays.  I use to write
parsers, now I do computer graphics.

One of the parsers I wrote was for something exotic called graph
grammars.  We used these beasts to recognize features in mechanical
designs.  Ask me to explain sometime and I will (it will only take a
couple minutes.  Trust me.)

In the ancient past, I use to work at Carnegie Group.  You don't want
to ask me about that.  I call it the 'adulterer and slut' story.
Let's just say that you don't want to work at a place where managment
values itself more than ethics.

More personal information: I am 31, Jewish, and gay.  I like to work out
and BIKE!

I got a life a few years ago.  I am very pro-choice and was the only
male member of the Steering Committee of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the
National Abortion Rights Action League of Pennsylvania for three
years.  I enjoy this, but I have to listen to women discuss such
topics as the myth of the vaginal orgasm and how depressing it is when
your child stops breast feeding.  I also escort at local women's
health clinics.  I've been doing this since January of 1989.  I guess
you could say I like 'Slam dancing with Jesus freaks.'

I also volunteer with the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force in the P.A.L.
project.  I was a buddy to a person living with HIV infection. He died
on January 12, 1993.  This was very rewarding, but also very hard.  I
take this very seriously.

I guess you could say my politics revolve around people.  Life is
hard, and people are confronted with tough decisions and circumstances
almost daily.  I do not accept people that think they know what is
best for others -- they normally don't.  I try to understand and
make what ever 'it' is easier for people.

I am also married to a very talented, very kind, very blonde man.  His
name is Tim and he is on the faculty of the Drama department.  He
graduated from Yale Drama School.  We have two dogs (well, one dog and
one satanic demon creature) and a cat.
