Subject: USS GALILEO/CALYPSO - A sad ending
Scene - 10 Forward/Triage centre, USS CALYPSO
Lareas Mik closed his eyes. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. War. This
wasn't why he joined starfleet, but by God he'd fight. He had lost a good
portion of his science crew back there. He moved away from the window as the
ship entered D-Warp and returned to Tikki. His poor friend had lost two legs
and an arm. He was swaddled in ichor stained bandages, the green tag attatched
to his eye stalk identifying him as having been triaged as a minor injury,
"Who triaged you?" Larry said, suddenly outraged,
"I'm fine," the crustacean wheezed, "It wouldn't be a serious injury even if I
only had three lags and an arm, though I could do without the crack on my
carapace," he claw moved slowly over to pat the patch near the peak of his
carapace where a flying microscope had hit him. They sat in silence for a few
moments,
"Karen's dead," Larry said quietly. He reached into the small box beside him
which contained all the possesions he had salvaged, along with Tikki's. He
removed his sketch pad and pack of pencils and began to draw,
"That's her," Tikki said gently when Larry had finished the sketch of their
dead comrade, "Gordon's dead as well," Larry started another sketch, placing
Karen's gently on the floor beside him. Kal'shlar approached him,
"I can not find cadet Spock anywhere," he said quietly. His face was spotted
with cuts and his arm hung loosely. Larry started another sketch.
It wasn't long before a crowd of people had gathered around Larry, who was
sketching furiously a portrait from memory of all the lost. It became a
crusade, finding a list of those MIA and remembering their faces. When Larry
ran out of paper, someone replicated a whole ream and he started again.
Eventually the stack became too large, and Larry's hand too tired, and the
nurses where removing all those as the long list of casualties was seen to, so
he stopped. Larry and a young command cadet were the last to be removed to sick
bay with only mild lacerations and burns. Larry went along to sick bay,
clutching the too large pile of portraits to his chest and swearing revenge.
The next GALILEO would be a warship, and he wouldn't miss it for the world.
NRPG: Sorry it's short and perhaps a little clumsily done, but I tried my best.
If we're at war, does that mean the DEFIANTs etc get taken out of mothballs?
What's the next GALILEO going to be?
Dan
