SAE Distances Itself from Bob Sikorsky

The SAE is the Society of Automotive Engineers. In August 1998, Bob Burtis contacted the organization to ask about Bob Sikorsky, the car-care guru who has endorsed The Force. (ATG's media division is also the publisher of the second edition of Sikorsky's book.)

Below is the reply Bob received:

Yes, Sikorsky is a member. But, his money-making schemes and clandestine
activities are in no way endorsed by either SAE or the Service Technicians
Society. Sure, anyone can join and become a member of some status. He is
not a certified professional STS member, as he has no actual credentials
or qualifications as a technician.

Mr. Sikorsky has been hawking magic elixirs and "mechanic-in-a-can"
formulas for many, many years. Frankly, I'm not surprised that he has
jumped on a new one, ever since the FTC came out so strongly against the
Teflon-laden snake oils -- of which Sikorsky was selling one brand.
