POSITION IN INTELLIGENT AGENTS/MULTI-AGENTS

USC - Information Sciences Institute (ISI) invites applications for a research scientist position on a project involving research and development of intelligent agents for complex, dynamic multi-agent environments. This new project, run by the multi-agent research team in ISI's Intelligent Systems Division, will focus on issues in multi-agents such as teamwork, agent organization, coordination and negotiation. It will also have a strong emphasis on multi-agent learning. In addition, agent architectures geared towards such multi-agent capabilities will also be investigated and developed.

This project builds on several years of research by our team members in areas such as multi-agent teamwork, coordination, plan-recognition, agent modeling and machine learning (single-agent and distributed learning) in both software agents and robots. In the past, we have developed software agents and robots that populate large-scale, dynamic multi-agent environments, and have established a strong research track record. For example, we have built agent teams that populate environments ranging from large-scale, real-world battlefield simulation environments to robotic and simulation soccer.

The desired start date for the new position is around October 1, 1998, but that is negotiable.
