The Host Interface is a real-time processor which acts as the supervisor of an RVM machine.  Typically, the Host Interface has a number of responsibilities including:
Booting and initializing other modules
Monitoring and debugging the functioning of the system
Providing an interface to users and devices outside the system
Performing real-time operations
The current version of the Host Interface is based on a Motorola 68360 processor embedded in a Baseboard with 4 empty module slots.  The Host Interface is equipped as follows:
2MB high-speed SRAM                PC-compatible parallel port
2MB flash ROM  2 high-speed comm ports
2 RS232 ports Global bus master interface
10 Mbit/Sec Ethernet IEEE 1394 interface
Clocks and timers Temperature sensor
