Project Progress

05.05.2005 -- Latika
We presented our completed project at the Meeting of the Minds convention at Carnegie Mellon on May 4th, 2005. Here are some pictures from before and during the demo. Be sure to read the alt tag for information about the picture!
AIBO puts up the pink screen to first locate
the monitor. AIBO then puts up the white screen to verify
that this is indeed his monitor. AIBO welcomes you to his opera! AIBO looks at the screen to
see if a selection has been made. AIBO waits for the user
to make a selection.
AIBO watches as the user covers up a
colored rectangle to make a choice. AIBO finds his goblet and pretends to
take a sip. AIBO performs a selection from
the opera 'La Traviata'. Kate and our demo. Me and our demo.

You can see a copy of our poster for the presentation here. It's pretty big so I recommend downloading it to see it in detail.

Here are some clips of the demo: Demo 1 Demo 2

I just finished cleaning up the code for the upcoming release v2.3 of the Tekkotsu framework. Got rid of various warnings and commented.

Looking Glass project had it's first demo for PhD students from NASA. The Pink Ball skit successfully rendered images and the Prisoner's Dilemma skit kept score on the monitor. Hooray! Hopefully video footage of the skits to come!

Student presentation for course completion. We made a poster describing our work so far this semester, and explained to fellow students and faculty members.

11.11.2004 -- Kate
I wrote three commands, the first uploads html code, the second uploads images and the last renders the html files. I am currently researching sockets.

11.09.2004 -- Latika
I am creating a new state machine that will locate the pink ball and keep the head pointed at it at all times. Currently experiencing problems running motion sequences, but Ethan is taking a look at that for me.

11.04.2004 -- Latika
I created a node that plays a motion sequence as well as a sound clip, the MSSoundNode. I changed some of the nodes in the skit to make use of this dual-purpose node. I also adjusted the motion sequence postures to let AIBO have more range of view when looking for a Pink object to play with.

10.26.2004 -- Latika
We've gotten the dog to run the basic skit. You can see a video clip of the current version here. My next goal is to incorporate the VisualTarget attributes to get AIBO to constantly look at the pink ball instead of preprogramming his view. ~Latika
10.16.2004 -- Latika

We are currently putting together a small skit to demonstrate our knowledge of state machines. This is a rough copy of our "in-progress" skit. the next couple of days, we will be writing more state machines for the "waitmessages" node to shuffle through when waiting for a red object. We are also adjusting some positions in the motion sequences for sit, head down and head up.
