STEREO PHOTOGRAPHS This directory (finally) contains more stereo photographs for you to enjoy. The gifs are the product of my first use of a new software and scanner package at work. Some white edges show that were not visible when I scanned them and the contrast is a bit variable between shots. These are for cross-eyed viewing! 5_ball.gif -- 5BALL.JPG -- Roy Maltby juggling five balls at the International Jugglers Association Festival in Fargo, ND in July 1993. He used this shot on his Masters Thesis in Mathematics at Calgary, but he moved to British Columbia and I have lost track of him. If anyone knows his email address, please let me know. 5b_open.gif -- 5B_OPEN.JPG -- 5B_OPEN2.JPG -- This is the same event, but at the beginning. The .JPGs are two different views so have a look at both of them. inukshuk.gif -- In the Arctic it is extremely difficult to gauge distances as the land is often flat with few landmarks. Indian and Inuit travellers traditionally erected a series of inukshuk, stones piled into the shape of a human at roughly human size. The inukshuk in this photograph is obviously not in the Arctic, but in the roof gallery of the Winnipeg Museum of Art Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The building behind is the main office of Investors Group. karp.gif -- KARP.JPG -- Gary Karp is a juggler living in San Francisco who juggles very well, though confined to a wheelchair. Here he is passing clubs with three jugglers doing a weave pattern. The one in the center with the beard is Martin Frost, for all of you who read his postings to rec.juggling about club passing. The others are Mike and Carolyn Hatalski. portage1.gif -- Portage Place (I believe) in Winnipeg, Manitoba, has some interesting stereo views, as these two photos will show. They are both hyper-stereos to emphasize the stereo into the far distance. I would expect that both views would be interesting around Christmas time when the arches are decorated with lights. This was taken in July, 1993. portage2.gif -- See above. ROLLA.JPG -- This is a shot in St. John's, Newfoundland of Juri and Svetlana Gololubov unveiling their double rolla-bolla trick. After more practice, Svetlana will also juggle three balls aboard the top rolla-bolla. Give it a try in your free time. display.gif -- This is a hyperstereo shot of mall display in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I have to look up the exact location. fence.gif -- In August of 1994, many fires burned in Washington State. This is a shot of a burned fence near Lake Chelan. The two halves have had slightly different processing, but this does not marr the stereo effect. chelan.gif -- a shot back toward the lake from the nearest burn area forming a nice pattern with a burnt sagebrush in the foreground. sand_pic.gif -- one of my favorites at the recent Sand Sculpture Competitions held at Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia this Summer (1994).
