CASE-BASED AND MIXED-INITIATIVE PLANNING
A Reading and Discussion Group
Friday, 12:00-1:30PM
WeH 7220
Starting in the Fall a new discussion group will explore the role of case-based
and traditional AI planning systems in a mixed-initiative setting where humans
are involved in the loop. The problem is where and how to engage human
reasoners in AI mechanisms of planning and scheduling given either a case-based
approach (using artificial or natural histories of past planning solutions), or
one of the many extensive models of planning from first principles, or perhaps
hybrids of both. The readings, presentations, and discussions involved with
this group should be appealing to at least three classes of researchers: those
interested in case-based reasoning, those working with planning or scheduling
systems and applications, and those with a background/interest in issues of
human-computer interface design and the cognitive ramifications of technology.
The format and organization for the group will be informal and relaxed. Persons
interested in participating should contact Michael Cox (email mcox+@cs.cmu.edu or phone cmu-pooh) in the
Computer Science Department at CMU so that your name can be added to a mailing
list for the discussion group. The mailing list is mcox=cbr@cs.cmu.edu
