The Symposium will focus on the following topics: - The OSF RI's decomposition of OSF/1 into a Mach pure kernel and a user space server and the application of this architecture to high performance, massively parallel multicomputers. - Related work by other companies and universities concerned with the Mach pure kernel on uniprocessor, multiprocessor and other architectures, and the creation of various operating system servers. - The use of the pure kernel for object oriented technology as in the Esprit Comandos project. - The features, benefits and technical challenges associated with a rearchitected operating system. There will be ample time for those engaged in O/S investigations to discuss the status of their work with one another. The fee for this Symposium is $175/participant and is limited to OSF Members. If you are interested in participating in this Symposium, contact Deborah Lanham at the Research Institute for additional information (lanham@osf.org).
