Sponsored by ============ Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center ================================= CMU School of Computer Science ============================== The Third U.S. PVM Users' Group Meeting will be held May 7 to 9, 1995, at the Hyatt Regency in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The meeting will provide an opportunity for users of PVM to meet each other, share ideas and experience, and meet some members of the PVM Team. The conference will include: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ o Introduction to PVM Tutorial (May 7) This tutorial will cover the basics of programming in PVM. o Advanced PVM Tutorial (May 7) This tutorial includes information on the internal details of the PVM system and how to use advanced PVM features such as the tracing, hoster, and tasker interfaces. o Invited Talks by PVM Developers and Advanced Users o Contributed Talks from the PVM User Community o Social Activities The banquet on Monday evening will be held in the Foyer of the Carnegie Music Hall. Conference attendees are encouraged to submit abstracts for presentations at ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ the meeting. Call For Presentations ====================== We invite everyone with PVM ideas or experiences to submit abstracts of papers and posters for possible presentation at the Users' Group meeting. List of topics includes (but is not limited to): o The PVM system: Tools Libraries Extensions and Improvements Vendors Implementations Programming Environments o Algorithms: Numerical Kernels Scheduling and Load Balancing Benchmarking and Pseudo-Applications o Real-world Parallel Applications: CFD Image Processing Structural Analysis Chemistry Aerodynamics Submitting an abstract +++++++++++++++++++++++ The abstract deadline has been extended. We will now accept abstracts until April 14th. We will try to accomodate all appropriate presentations. Please send your abstracts to pvm95@cs.cmu.edu as soon as possible. Any special equipment required for the talk should also be indicated in the abstract. This route will take you onto Route 60 to I-279 East. While on 279 East, follow the Civic Arena signs thru the Fort Pitt Tunnels and onto the bridge. When on the Fort Pitt bridge follow the signs for the Liberty Avenue exit ramp (Civic Arena). From Liberty Avenue go thru 5 lights and make a right onto 6th Avenue. Continue straight up 6th Avenue and turn left onto Centre Avenue. At next traffic light, make a right onto Washington Place and another quick right into the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh. Shuttle Service from Airport to Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh: --------------------------------------------------------- There is shuttle service from the Airport to the Hyatt via the Airport Limousine. At the airport, follow signs to ground transportation. The cost is approximately $12.00 Driving: ++++++++ Pennsylvania Turnpike: ---------------------- From I-76 take exit 6 at Monroeville. Follow these signs to Pittsburgh on I-376 West. While following 376, you will see signs for the Civic Arena. Follow the road signs which will take you to the Boulevard of the Allies/Cross Town Boulevard exit ramp (Civic Arena). Proceed in the right lane of Crosstown Boulevard and take the Civic Arena exit. At the end of the exit ramp, follow signs to Civic Arena, which will make you merge right.
