Which newsgroup is `this newsgroup'? alt.politics.ec? eunet.politics?
sci.lang? Or all of the above?

<groan> Must we explain these things to every daft idiot in the world?

For those really (I mean really) slow on the uptake:

Esperanto is a constructed language. It was made up by Zamenhof.
It has not evolved from Proto-Indo-European, Proto-Uralic or any
  other protolanguage.

Consequently it does not belong to the Indo-European, the Uralic
  or any other language family.

Does that clarify things?
