Does anyone know of a cheap and effective speech synthesizer that
runs on a Windows platform and can be CALLED FROM A C++ program?!

I have tried Monologue for Windows and can't seem to get it to work
when I call it from C. And the documentation is terrible, and the speech
is of pretty lousy quality.

Lernout and Hauspie makes a swank text-to-speech product but it costs
$2000. I can't afford it (nor do I need something that high-end).

If anyone has heard of a decent text-to-speech product that can be
called from a C program running in windows, I would verymuch appreciate
information about it.

Thanks,
