Can anybody help ??

I'm carrying out some speech processing for research purposes at Loughborough
University and am trying to use the database of phonemes which I found in this
news group at ftp site : sounds.sdsu.edu:/.1/phonemes.

This site contains a number of speech data examples and a file conversion
program called 'sox'. Unfortunately I dont seem to have the manual or help
file which explains how to carry out the necessary desired conversions.

What I am trying to do is convert the .au file formats to a straight forward
16 bit format (the firts 8 bits forming the least significant byte of the
sample) for use on a DOS machine.

I have tried several options but have only suceeded in producing rubbish so
far.

If anyone can set me straight on this I will be extremely grateful.

Thanks

Paul McDowell
