Subject: LPC for speech: a perplexing question

Hello

I'm interested in writting my own C code for calculating the LPC
coefficients for a segment of speech from the covariance matrix.
I'd like to know how to form the covariance matrix. Do I have to find
the beginning pitch pulses and then average the outerproduct of segments
begining at each of the pitch pulse, or do I arbitrarily divide it
up into segments and build up the autocovariance matrix by averaging over
the outerproduct of a sliding window within a particular segment.
Any insights would be very appreciated.

thanx

Metin.
