Position: Senior Technical Staff
 
Overview:
 
Object Guild is a fast growing outsourcing and product development firm
based in San Jose, California.  Object Guild has a strong commitment to
its employees and is committed to providing the highest quality products
built by experienced professionals in object-oriented databases and
Smalltalk.
 
Object Guild's current product development efforts are focused on
building a suite of products using the VERSANT ODBMS, ParcPlace
Smalltalk, IBM Smalltalk and the ARGOS application development
environment.  The Object Guild products will be deployed over a
distributed multi-tiered hub architecture in a multi-platform
environment.
 
We have an immediate opening for a integral member of our development
team.  The ideal candidate will possess core competencies in Smalltalk
(experience with VisualWorks, IBM Smalltalk, or dialects), and would
work on a project team throughout design and initial development phases,
and provide support in the following areas:
 
        - Working with Object Guild's repository experts to architec
          distributed DB mechanisms in Smalltalk
        - Designing, implementing, and testing Smalltalk libraries from
          general specifications
        - Leading and mentoring
        - Possibly developing enhancements to our development
          environment tools (e.g., source code control mechanisms)
 
This is an ideal position to become a member of a group of talented OO
professionals.
 
General Guildlines:
 
        - BS Computer Science or related field
        - 5 years developing client/server applications on UNIX and/or
          Windows
        - 1 or more years Smalltalk experience
        - 3 or more years in some OO languages (e.g., Smalltalk, C++,
          Objective C, Actor)
        - Knowledge of ODBMS, C callout techniques, and prior project
          management experience is a plus.
 
Requirements:
        - Extreme commitment to quality.
        - Self motivated, quick learner.
        - Software design experience.
        - Capable of assuming project lead responsibilities over time.
