Subject: Smalltalk to C generator?

We use VisualWorks 2.0 from ParcPlace. In some occasions our clients
do not want a Smalltalk program as the deliverable, but straight C
and / or an executable C-program. For reasons that I do not have to
explain here, we would like to keep on developing in VisualWorks.
Portability is important to us and VisualWorks is our main development
evironment.

Now my question is: what are the possibilities to generate C-code from
VisualWorks code, perhaps with restrictions? I know that some French
company might have something in this area. Also, Smalltalk/X claims they
have a ST-to-C compiler. Has anyone used that? How compatible is Smalltalk/X
with VisualWorks? Are there other options?
