Yes, this sounds very much the line that Husserl took (and which Piaget seems
to have 'lifted' when he created his 'genetic epistemology'. There's a very
nice example of the Husserlian line in The Crisis Of European Science'.....
In many ways the notion is also embodied in the ontology of J.J. Gibson.
(The Senses Considered as Perceptual Systems, and his 'ecological optics'.)
