                          The Cogent Prolog Logic Server
                                 Comes to OpenVMS

January 11, 1995 - STOW, MA--The 3.0 Release of Cogent Prolog(tm) for the DEC
Alpha running OpenVMS is now available. It is source and object code
compatible with the 16 and 32-bit versions of Cogent Prolog for Windows and
DOS, and the 64-bit version for OSF/1 on the DEC Alpha. This means that code
developed on one platform can be deployed on many.

The OpenVMS edition includes the Cogent Logic Server(tm) API which allows
programmers to embed the Cogent Prolog engine in DEC C/C++ and other DEC-
language applications, as well as to create standalone Prolog programs. This
means programmers can use Prolog rule-based logic programming to enhance
applications with services such as: problem diagnosis & resolution,
configuration/tuning, planning & evaluation, intelligent advice, and language
parsing.

Conversely, Prolog programmers can extend Prolog to directly access any of the
functions provided by database APIs, networking/communications interfaces,
graphics libraries and any other facilities available to the OpenVMS
programmer.

Cogent Prolog v3.0 includes the compiler, listener, debugger, a customizable,
distributable, royalty-free runtime, C and C++ libraries which implement the
Logic Server API and full documentation. It is available now for $995/seat,
with discounts for multiple seats.
