These are both example programs from "Building Expert Systems in Prolog"
published by Springer-Verlag. They are described in detail in the book,
and full source is listed in the appendix.

(The book should really be called Building Expert System Shells in
Prolog, as each of the chapters discusses how to build a different type
of shell in Prolog, and provides a sample application using the shell.
For example, Native uses Prolog's native inferencing, with a few helping
predicates and the example is a bird identification system; Clam is a
Prolog implementation of an EMYCIN type shell and the example is an
automobile diagnostic system.)

The book is available from Springer-Verlag and also directly from us. We
also provide a disk with all the source code and executable versions of
each of the shells. We provide the disk alone for $35, but suspect the
contents can be found in a number of places as there are no restrictions
on the code, which is the same as that described in the book.
