Yes, but it's difficult for those of us with a conscience to have to 
explain to a starving child that, no, we won't give you any food today
because in the long run it's bad for you to depend on us and you need
to develop self-sufficiency...

Well, there's more people... I'd argue, though, that there's very few
people today who live in the kind of freedom enjoyed by our hunter-
gatherer forbears....
