Does anyone have information as to what is known about
the 'numerical awareness' of insects ? As much simpler
systems, it would be interesting to compare the
 insect's numerical awareness to ours.
Insects and other arthropods are famous for their rigourous geometrical
instincts ( beehives, spider webs, etc) , yet their geometrical
instincts are not unequivocal evidence of numerical AWARENESS. If
insects do have some kind of operational numerical awareness,
this might have implications for characterizing certain aspects
 of insect "other-intelligence".
