Not all mathematicians are scientists, nor are all scientists mathematicians.  

My distain is reserved for those that attempt to take scientific principle
derived in the abstract and apply it directly without regard to the impingements
of reality.  Typically in extrapolation, often with the request that someone
else, a graduate student or naive reader, attempt direct application of said
principles.  And often posing as either "scientist" or "engineer".  IMHO neither
apply.  And the consumers die.

Ignorance is only blissful for the ignorant; the rest of us pay the bills.
