A game is a structured activity engaged in, or originally engaged
   in, for fun.

That makes all of the following ``games'', by my estimate:

literary criticism, going to the cinema, going to the theatre, sex,
drinking alcohol, joy-riding, mountaineering, pot-holing, gambling,
and reading netnews.

There's definitely a common element, but ``game'' doesn't seem to
capture it.
