Special measuring spoons are a recent luxury foisted on us by those
who peddle gimmicks.  In the old days you used a real tablespoon to
measure with.

The trouble is that opinions diverge on what a real tablespoon actally is.
I was under the impression it was what one ate soup with, but it has been
forcefully put to me that it is actually the much larger spoon which might
be used for serving out vegetables from a bowl onto one's plates.
