I think this modus operandi works fine, too, and I imagine others
must as well, because I see them posting in multiple languages, with or
without an English-language summary, all the time. For the record, I
never remember hearing the suggestion that all conversations necessarily
take place in English on any newsgroup, not even alt.usage.english. I
certainly don't mind reading lousy French, as I am incapable of
distinguishing it from propre French; I just hope that no one expects me
to respond in it.

(For another post on the subject with which I agree whole-
heartedly, see Mark Rosenfelder's recent reply to a French-language
criticism of the dominance of English on sci.lang. If you are not capable
of reading French, I will be happy to post a loose personal summary in any
of the three languages I post in--English, German, and Catalan.)

temps.
