I am supposed to be giving a presentation on the differences between non-verbal
communication in Russia and South-East-Asian countries (in about three weeks'
time). I've got plenty of material on Russian signs and gestures but so far I
couldn't find anything on the SE-Asian countries.
Could anyone please provide me with some hints as to what books are available
on this subject?
I would also greatly appreciate if anybody could mail me descriptions of signs
that can be considered specifically SE-Asian.
In addition, I wonder how far cultural diversity (I'm particularly thinking of
Malaysia and Singapore) influences the kind of signs being used. Are there
"loan-signs", e.g. a gesture that was used originally by the Chinese population
but is now used universally? And furthermore: do two Chinese Malaysians talking
to each other use different non-verbal clues from let's say a Chinese Malaysian
talking to a Malay?
Thanks a lot for any kind of help!
