I am trying to find a set of English words that sound distinctly
different, even when mumbled or said with an accent. Ideally these
words should be sort (one sillable). Can anyone point me to such a
list, or even suggest where I can find some research on the phonetic
distance (if that's a valid term) between different sounds or words.

If anyone has any ideas please tell me. Thank you.
