Clearly, Java is lacking in lots of areas (native widgets, non native
widgets,
useful widgets, a useful model for using the widgets, printing, to name a
few).

On the otherhand, Smalltalk was (and in some cases, is still) lacking in
alot of those
areas, yet has survived so far.

So, clearly, lack of functionality and fall-on-your-face projects are not
the death knell
for Java...

If the question is:
	A) Whats the best environment to build a project I'm going to deliver this
year?

The answer is : Not Java

If the question is:

	B) Which language shows the most promise of being a widespread success
over
the next 5-10 years

The answer most probably is:

	Java

Java is like a very capable infant, surprising everone at its
precosiousness. No one is crowning
it emporer yet, just grooming it for the task...

	Jordan
