Hmmm.
Well, in a separate followup (which you may not have seen at the time
you made this posting) I specifically showed some threads where I
thought it seemed fairly dishonest, when what should/could have been
said was nothing... So I have to stand by what I said in that followup
posting.

Nevertheless Dan, in all of the Smalltalk managers I have dealt with,
you and people like Reed Phillips are some of the most ethical and
forthright... My slam against PP-D management (most of my experience
with which was pre-merger) did not include you in this.

And no, I haven't met Eric personally; all I have seen are the posts,
and I was shocked to see them filled with what I feel is
disinformation.

I guess my feeling is, what good are "Statements" on their web site,
when past statements cannot be trusted, either due to the fact that
directions at PP-D switch faster than wind currents in a hurricane, or
that they are being intentionally misleading? Either way they are
useless facts.

FWIW -- one thing that was stated was:

I can guaranty you with absolute certainty that PP-D does not plan to
discontinue Smalltalk (it represents a $30-40 million a year business
for the company). For the record, I should point out that PP-D has had

That seems awfully disingenuous to me...The only way it could be
construed to be true would be if it said:

"I can guaranty you with absolute certainty that PP-D does not plan to
discontinue VisualWorks on the Unix or WIN32 platforms" -- the fact
that they are discontiuing everything else except Vwave, pretty much
makes it a false statement...

So I guess I'm standing by my assertions unless someone can point out
how thats a true statement...

No hard feelings!
