A reminder to the Visual Smalltalk Win32 people out
there: the deadline for the edIt extension contest
is approaching. You still have a week left, but the
clock is ticking...

Don't be bashful; the competition isn't that fierce, you
could win some serious prizes, and the least you'll come
away with is a spiffy edIt T-shirt.

For those of you who've no idea what I'm talking about,
I've included the contest announcement below. And
remember: you don't need to buy edIt to enter (you just
need Visual Smalltalk Win32 3.0 to run it on).

***CONTEST*** ***CONTEST*** ***CONTEST***

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

You say you never win anything? Now's your chance to
prove yourself wrong!

In celebration of edIt's general availability, we're
sponsoring a contest for the best edIt extension you
folks can muster. Remember: edIt extensions can include
any Smalltalk programming utility you may already have
written; it just has to be integrated into edIt.

We will be giving out one grand prize, and one second
prize (described below). In addition, anyone submitting
an entry will receive a nifty edIt T-shirt, absolutely free.

In case you missed the announcement earlier, if you don't
yet have edIt, we've made a fully functional time limited
evaluation version available for FTP download in the Smalltalk
archives (st.cs.uiuc.edu), with the path
/pub/cooper/edIt/editdemo.exe.

So dust off that favorite utility you wrote and are so proud
of; do a little integration work, and send it in. The least
you can win is a T-shirt!

=========================================================
*** Grand Prize ***

A full multimedia package including:
- An NEC 2vi Internal CD-ROM drive
- A 16-bit sound card
- Speakers
- Myst (great game!)
- Microsoft Encarta
- SimCity

Alternatively, you can select any two of the second place
prizes listed below.

*** Second prize ***

Your choice of one of the following:

- One free copy of edIt. If you've already purchased it,
  we'll refund your money.
- A Timex DataLink Watch*
- Ten compact disks (music) of your choice
- Microsoft Natural Keyboard & Intellipoint Mouse

*In case you haven't seen these yet, aside from all the
functionality of a Timex wristwatch, the DataLink is basically
a personal organizer on your wrist. You add appointments,
phone numbers, anniversaries, etc. to a Windows PIM, then
hold your wrist up to the screen to download your latest
changes. Pretty slick!

*** Rules ***

- Extensions you create must be in the public domain. We
will be maintaining a suite of extensions on Compuserve and
here in the Smalltalk archive for download, and yours may
be added to it. We may also opt (with your permission) to
include them as extras in the product itself.

- Extensions must be sent to Ken Cooper
  (71571.407@compuserve.com) by May 1st, 1995. We will
announce the winners here on the forum on May 5th.
