Media Computing, Research Assistant Vacancy

The Department of Computer Science is one of three partners in an
interdisciplinary research programme which will bring together computer
scientists
and media content producers. This research is supported by the
Technology Foresight Programme, together with a consortium of industrial
partners.
Key research themes will be in techniques and tools for media content
production, especially to support the creation of 3D content and its use
in
interactive productions.

The programme has substantial industrial support from the
microelectronics, computer, communication and media industry. Facilities
available will
include a wide-screen semi immersive projection system with surround
sound driven by a dedicated multiprocessor, media servers, image and
video
capture equipment, virtual reality equipment and high performance
workstations. The partners will be connected by a high speed ATM
network.

The Research Assistant will carry out feasibility studies which will
lead to the definition of new research projects to be carried out in
conjunction with
industrial partners. The appointment will be on the RA1A scale (15159 -
22785) and is for two years in the first instance.
