                        PAPER SOLICITATION:
SPECIAL ISSUE OF THE ANNALS OF OPERATIONS RESEARCH

     "THE INFORMATION SYSTEMS/OPERATIONS RESEARCH INTERFACE"

The fields of IS and OR have advanced enormously over the years in
their respective individual tracks. However, the links between
these two tracks are now becoming increasingly important due to the
rapid advances in information technology and the growing outreach
of OR to solve practical problems in a variety of disciplines. The
links essentially address two broad developmental issues: providing
effective information system support for practical OR applications,
and providing efficient OR modelling support in configuring optimal
information systems. These issues can be broadly summarized as
"Systems for Models" and "Models of Systems," respectively.

To help consolidate the leading research of the community working at
these interface links, we are planning a volume of Annals of OR devoted
to these topics. Papers are sought on Systems for Models/Models of
Systems, including, but not restricted to the following:

    OR Models for:
            Systems Analysis and Design
            Database Systems Design and configuration
IS management problems including IS project management
IS strategies and IS Economic Analyses
            System Architecture Design including client/server
              wide-area/internet and other system configurations
Emerging facets of IS such as Multimedia/Hypertext, process
Re-engineering, Groupware, Logic/AI Applications and others.

    IS Support for:
            production planning/scheduling/control models
            pricing/resource allocation/distribution models
            investment/cost analysis/other financial models
            strategic management models

Papers from the international industrial and academic communities
are encouraged. All papers will be put through a thorough and rigorous
refereeing process and publication will be on an accelerated timetable.
The deadline for submission is extended to June 15, 1995.
A one page abstract should be sent to the co-editors by December 15th.
Authors should send four
copies (include a list of keywords) of the manuscripts, together with
a submission letter to either of the guest editors:
