In the analogy of the ant: An ant colony thrived, and representatives
from that colony explored increasingly large portions of their
surrounding universe. After many years of exploration, the colony
had pretty much made up it's mind how the universe worked. Then, one
day, while exploring a heretofore unexplored section of their world,
they ran into a problem. Suddenly the sky darkened, the earth shook,
there was a terrible noise, and an incredibly strong rush of wind.
The ants felt that they had stumbled across some heretofore unexplained
and extremely important principle of the universe. What they had
discovered was a little used sideline of the Chicago transit railway.
Scope. Perception. These are important concepts. A wise person once
said "The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go
beyond them into the impossible".
