Dear JAIR subscriber:

Volume 1 of JAIR is now available in hardcopy by Morgan Kaufmann
Publishers. There's something very important that you can do to
support the journal...You can ask your local librarian to order the
hardcopy version! This will help us in several ways. First, it will
make JAIR available to people without internet access. Second, it will
help boost the journal's reputation. (People expect to see journals in
libraries, after all.) Finally, it will help support AI Access
Foundation. Royalties from the sale of the volume go to AI Access
Foundation, not the journal editors, staff or editorial board.
AI Access Foundation is a nonprofit foundation that supports the free
electronic access of scientific information for AI researchers.

Below you will find a letter that you can cut out and send to your
local librarian. It contains information on how to order the journal.
Of course, I encourage those of you who want to order the journal
directly for your own use to do so as well.

Please note that the journal is priced significantly lower than most
computer science journals. We worked hard to keep the price low so
that ordering it won't require a significant budget increase! We
expect that the hardcopy version will be published twice a year in the
future.

To order via email, send email to orders@mkp.com with your credit card
number and expiration date and a current shipping address. (Some
people are apprehensive about sending their credit card number by
email, but many people do it and to date Morgan Kaufmann hasn't experienced
any problems). You will get a confirmation of receipt. There is also
a toll-free phone number available in the U.S. and Canada.

Thank you,
Steve Minton
