I don't know what Smallwalker is.  But, we are working with TCP/IP
sockets on VisualWorks for mac68k.  ParcPlace has worked out a new
object engine for mac68k and PowerPC, which uses NetManage's winSock
library for communications.  We are one of the test sites for this 
new VM.  It is convenient to use with TCP/IP sockets, although it still
have problems with UDP.
