Hi,

My name is Lindsay Moir and I am the chair for the Smalltalk Users
Group (STUG) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Two other members
of our company also co-chair the Canadian Information Processing
Society Object Oriented Technology Special Interest Group (CIPS
OOT SIG) in Calgary. How is that for a handle! We want to
establish dialogue with other STUGs in North America in order to
accomplish the following objectives.

1. Find out what is good and not so good in the Smalltalk world.
This includes vendors, consultants, and applications (frameworks).

2. Get topics of interest for our meetings. Some of the same
presentations that are done in other STUGs will be of interest to us.
We would like to know from the other STUGs what they thought of
the topics/speakers that they had present at their meetings.

3. Many of our members are consultants. They are constantly
looking for work. There are few places to apply their skills in
Calgary but a lot of other locales have a large demand for
Smalltalkers. For example we have people working in Toronto and
in the past in New York. It would be nice to set up an informal
STUG network so that we knew who the organizations were that
wanted Smalltalkers. In turn those organizations could have some
degree of comfort that they were getting what "they paid for".

If you know of or are involved in a local Smalltalk Users Group or just
interested in this please reply to me at:
