My apologies; it seems as though the last attempt at this
resulted in an article consisting entirely of a quote of the
previous article.

I just want to make sure that nobody in comp.robotics has the
impression that the proposers of comp.robotics.research are
trying to tell the readers of comp.robotics what to call the
existing group. We're not. If you read the request for
dsicussion carefully, you will see that the issues are
separate and will be voted on separately.

In fact, our original request for discussion did not even
include the idea of renaming comp.robotics. This addition to
our posting was mandated by the news.announce.newgroups
moderator as a prerequisite for beginning a formal discussion
on the creation of comp.robotics.research. Nonetheless, the
only connection between the two discussions (and the
subsequent votes) is temporal; they will run simultaneously,
but are independent.
