Greetings:
I am working on a lazer range finder, and we need a controller. I am a loyal
HC11 user, however after some preliminary math, I am not sure if the HC11
has the power to do what I need.

I understand that Motorola has released a chip called the 6816 which is a 16
bit version of the HC11. I was just wondering if anyone had any info on it.

Some of my reasons for considering it:
1)  >=12 bit ADC
2) true 16 bit operations (This will give better speed)
3)  Faster clock???

I still however need (6811 features):
1)  Timing functions
2)  Serial port
3) Input and Output Parallel port
4) On board RAM and EEPROM

I was wondering the following:
1) Is it readily available yet?
2) Is there a lot of learning for a HC11 Guru?
3)  Assemblers, Compilers?

Thank you in advance
