I have a small benchtop vertical mill and a lathe made by the Sherline company.

They are both excellent machines. I have had them for about a year and they
are not having any problems dur to wear.

They can only do small jobs, and I only mill aluminum so I don't know if
it's what you want or not.

The prices I got are:

  Item Price in US dollars
Complete Lathe 460
XYZ base column 300 The motor from the lathe gets
bolted onto this to make a mill
						Otherwise, a mill is $470
Screw cutting 100 To make threads using the lathe
Indexing 150 To index a part a precice amt.
Rotary table 250 To rotate a part a precice amt.

I added a lot of milling bits, a vice, holders, larger handwheels,
a book about machining and a video tape showing how to use these
tools to make a small steam engine and came up with $2100
