We have a puma 562 in our lab and are having problems with the
floppy disk controller (we think). Basicly, we can not read
the calibration information from the disk. We have replaced
the floppy disk drive with a good one and we still get
device not ready errors ( error number 12 ). The floppy
controller seems to be custom. The robot is running VAL II
version 562.2.1B.

Has anyone had a similiar problem?

We simply translate commands in another format to
VAL movement commands and have no VAL programming experience.
( yet ). Has anyone written calibration routines in VAL?

Any suggestions?

One of the options we are considering is bypassing VAL
altogether.

thanks
