I am about to to attach a camera to a robot. I want the the robot to
move so that the picture is as well focussed as possible. The way to
do this which is most obvious to me is to do edge-detection,
and then get the robot to move such that it minimises the sum of the
edges . This sort of works but of course the problem is that edge
detection is very time consuming. Does anyone know of a better or
quicker algorithm for focussing or point me to a good reference?

Thanks in advance

ben
