Hi, for distance measurement I am using 2 encoders from a spiry tape
drive, you know the big 6 foot monsters. They have a resolution of 1.2^.
I am using 2 4040 to count the pulses. The problem I am having is it
counts like this 1 2 3 5 9 12 13 14 15. I think the problem is noise, but
I am not sure. I have a 2.2 uf capacitor on the inputs and a .1 up on the
counter supply pins. Can someone tell me what is wrong?
I also would like to know what a 74LS14 is and how it works. I have
seen it on opto-coupler outputs, I am using one on the output of my
encoders. But I don't know why, I think they keep noise from getting through.
