In a pinch, Radio Shack can supply these (though they're a little
pricey).

Otherwise, the way to go is Sharp Authorized Distributors.  In MA,
Marshall and Milgray are two of the biggies.  But Sharp has
distributors in most states; call Sharp at 206 834 8700 to find ones
in your locality.

Also, the Electronic Goldmine (an Arizona-based surplus dealer listed
in the 6.270 course notes) is currently carrying a similar 40 kHz IR
detector for real cheap.
