  It's still in use, and nothing better has been proposed, so it's not 
outdated.
  As for its flaws, maybe you should point out the features that you 
think are "flaws", and we can discuss them.
  Oddly enough, though, I noticed that in the paragraph of yours that I 
quoted, you spelled everything the same way I would have.  This indicated 
that although you believe the current spelling system is broken, you have 
no trouble using it.
