Language Processing as Search
Initial state = text string/meaning structure
Goal state = meaning structure/text string
Operators transform one into the other, e.g. access lexical info, link NP to VP, link subject to predicate
So intermediate states correspond to partially instantiated meaning structures
Search through space of such structures for coherent interpretation (goal state)
