Assignments

General Information

Assignments will be handed electronically. The deadline will typically be 12:01am on a lecture day. In other words, early in the morning on the day of lecture. Assignments may NOT be turned in late. You may hand in your assignment several times; if so, your grade will be based on the last handin.

Each assignment involves a non-trivial amount of programming. You may work in groups of up to two people on the assignments. (Turn in a single writeup per group.)

You may develop your code on whatever machine you want. However, your final program must run on a Linux box.

Electronic Hand-in

As soon as possible run, /afs/cs/academic/class/15745-s02/public/bin/checkin from the account you expect to handin your assignments. This program will send us mail so we can establish a directory into which you will handin your assignments. When you are ready to hand in an assignment, you will simply run the program ``/afs/cs/academic/class/15745-s02/public/bin/handin'' from the directory containing your assignment. You may handin an assignment more than once.

If your program does not work correctly, you should describe what problems your program has, and what might be causing them in the file handin.txt. This will help the graders give you partial credit, and thus it is to your advantage to include as much relevant information as possible. In particular, if your program only works partially, or you have some idea of what needs to be fixed, or where the bug(s) are, say so!! It will help establish to the grader that you understand what's going on and what the problems are.

Graded assignments will be handed back electronically as well. If your andrew ID is st00 then to look at the graders' comments (and your grade) on assignment 2 you would go to the directory /afs/cs/academic/class/15745-s02/public/handin/st00/2/handback.

A summary of all your grades is kept in the file Summary in your handin directory. Thus, a summary for all of st00's grades will be found in: /afs/cs/academic/class/15745-s02/public/handin/st00/Summary.
