Hey, um... I'm Ian Timourian and this is a Cliffs
Notes version of my life! I've lived in Howard County, MD for
the last 22
years or so, with my parents Rita and Greg and my sis', Mara. I went to
school at Glenelg High School where I played varsity soccer, ran track,
played tennis and was the lead trombonist for the Symphonic and Jazz
Ensembles. My senior year we were state champions in soccer, national
champions in the Wind Symphony and our Jazz Ensemble played at the
Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the North Sea Jazz Festival in
Holland. Needless to say, it was a pretty cool year!
For my undergraduate years, I ended up at the greatest university in the United States, Duke University, where I double majored in computer science and electrical engineering. Because I couldn't decide which I enjoyed more, I am currently attending Carnegie Mellon University where I am a graduate student in the Information Networking Institute.
The last 3 summers I have been at Trusted Information Systems (TIS) working with the Advanced Research Group doing network security research. I had worked for the TMach Group the previous two summers; coding for an incredibly secure operating system sparked an interest in OS's and was a catalyst in my double major decision. It's probably not surprising that my computer interests are concentrated in the areas of network and computer security. I suppose that's enough boring stuff, though. When I'm not in front of the INI computers I like to read eastern religion/philosophy, play soccer or beach volleyball, snow or water ski, listen to and play music, and especially chill out with friends!
That's me in three paragraphs, so feel free to drop me email if you've got anything you'd like to discuss!
