James Crnkovich: Topographical Map

This project features a grasshopper program which converts a topographical heightmap into a sliced model which could be lasercut. The height map comes from the United States Geological Survey which was converted into a black and white bitmap. The bitmap was imported into Grasshopper and converted to point elevations. These points were then converted into a surface that emulated the actual geography of the topographical map. This surface was extruded and sliced into parts to produce a physical model which was laser cut.
